The SBE27 Delft conference theme will be “People, Planet and the Built Environment: Governing District-Scale Transitions in an Uncertain World”.

This confernence theme addresses the urgency of scaling sustainability from individual assets to district level. Driven by digital twins, zero-emission infrastructure, and circular economics with community governance and affordable housing, this conference focuses on navigating uncertainty to deliver equitable, resilient, and decarbonized districts.

SBE27 Delft welcomes contributions that:

The following (sub)themes serve as a guideline:

  1. Governance & institutional frameworks for district-scale transitions
  2. Zero-emission buildings, district energy systems, and grid congestion
  3. Behavioural and social dimensions of renovation decision-making
  4. Circularity, embodied carbon, and the twin (digital + green) transition
  5. Affordable & social housing: split incentives, financing, equity in the renovation wave
  6. Positive Energy Districts, energy communities, and cooperative energy governance
  7. Simulation, AI, Digital Twins, monitoring, and data-driven methods for building and urban performance
  8. Energy poverty, just transition, and SDG-aligned policy instruments

We particularly encourage submissions that bridge research and practice, offering innovative, whole-lifecycle approaches to embed actionable sustainability and circularity across scales and sectors.
